He's glad to have Helen here because he thinks he really needs to hear things like this. He could have easily walked out of the store feeling like this whole thing is a bust, feeling like a failure for not even being able to find his girlfriend a ring when it should be kind of easy, right? He shouldn't have to agonize over this, right? To be fair, it's a decent chunk of cash he'll be spending on it so that kind of makes it really important but also, she'll be wearing it all the time if she says yes and oh fuck, what if she doesn't say yes and oh fuck, she's going to be wearing it all the time, this decision is suddenly back to being one of enormous magnitude.

He takes in a deep breath, exhaling slowly as he wills himself to not freak out because he's got a friend here to help now, there's no failing in this.
