He blushes a little, he can't help it. The idea of being married would have made him laugh even up to a few months ago but he hadn't been lying to Kate when he'd told her she'd changed everything for him. Certain thigns he'd never even considered--having a solid relationship in the first place had been something he'd thrown off the table a long time ago, with the kaiju at full-force against the rest of the world--are things he can't imagine not having now.

"Thanks," he says, grateful for the compliment. He'd have to agree. But when Helen gets back to the topic of the ring itself, he straightens up and frowns down at the glass case full of jewelry. "That's the thing, it definitely has to be different. I can't see Kate rocking something super generic, y'know? I wouldn't want her to anyway. And I'm thinking something in between the flashy and subtle, I want it to be something she can show off but also not so stupidly big that she loses use of her hand." He winks to show he's joking but really, he's only half-joking. "The perfect ring, though, is that even a thing that exists?"
