"I think I'd like Hermann," she decides, based off almost nothing except Newt's description of him grumbling a lot. For whatever reason, she seems to do really well with grumpy men who grumble and act put out and basically like to pretend that they have no feelings. She's good at getting under that shell and finding the feelings and even making them own up to them every now and then. She has no idea how it happened, it's not like her dad was ever a particularly gruff guy. Given the crazy life he'd been dragged into, he'd been pretty good about expressing himself when it was necessary. In fact, Kate's pretty sure her complete lack of filter comes from him instead of her mother.

"I feel like I collect dudes who mutter under their breath and pretend everything annoys them," she says, smiling. "I think it's just because they're way more fun to pester than almost anyone else."
